Epoxy Flooring FAQ
Answers to the most common questions we hear in Murfreesboro.
How much does epoxy flooring cost in Murfreesboro, TN?
A standard 2-car garage runs $1,400–$2,200. Basements run $1,200–$2,800. Commercial work is $3–$7/sqft for standard systems and $5–$12/sqft for metallic or specialty chemistries. Free written estimates on every project.
How long does professionally installed epoxy flooring last?
15–20 years in residential garages and basements with proper maintenance. Commercial floors typically last 10–15 years depending on traffic. All floors are backed by our 5-year warranty against peeling, chipping, and hot tire pickup.
How long does the installation take?
Most 2-car residential garages are completed in 1–2 days. Polyaspartic 1-day systems finish in 8–10 hours start to finish. Basement and commercial projects typically take 2–4 days depending on size.
How long until I can walk and drive on my new floor?
Foot traffic at 8 hours, vehicle traffic at 24 hours for standard epoxy/polyaspartic hybrid systems. Polyaspartic-only systems are walkable in 4 hours and drivable in 24.
What's included in your standard system?
Diamond grinding with HEPA vacuum dust control, crack and spall repair, primer, pigmented epoxy base coat, decorative flake broadcast, and polyaspartic clear topcoat with anti-slip aggregate. All material, labor, cleanup, and 5-year warranty included.
Do I need to be home during installation?
Not the whole time. We need access on day one for walkthrough and prep, and access on the final day for handoff. Most clients leave us a garage code or open door and check progress at end of each day.
Is epoxy flooring slippery when wet?
We add anti-slip aggregate to the polyaspartic topcoat at no extra charge. The finished surface has excellent traction even when wet with rain, melted snow, or wash-down water.
Can epoxy be applied over a painted concrete floor?
Old paint must be diamond-ground off first. We do not coat over existing paint or failing coatings — proper removal is what makes the new floor bond and last.
What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?
Epoxy is a slower-curing, high-build base coat. Polyaspartic is a faster-curing, UV-stable topcoat. Most premium systems use both: epoxy for thickness, polyaspartic for cure speed and color stability.
Do you offer 1-day epoxy floor installation?
Yes — our polyaspartic-only system is fully installed in 8–10 hours and ready for foot traffic the same evening. Ideal for single-vehicle households and busy commercial spaces.
Are your coatings safe for pets?
Yes. Once fully cured, our coatings are non-toxic and pet-safe. The textured anti-slip topcoat actually provides better traction for pets than bare concrete or LVP.
Do you handle commercial and industrial projects?
Yes — warehouses, auto shops, restaurants, breweries, retail showrooms, and manufacturing floors. We offer standard epoxy, urethane cement, novolac, and ESD systems with OSHA-spec markings.
What's your service area?
Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, Brentwood, Franklin, Nolensville, Christiana, Eagleville, Shelbyville, Lascassas, Spring Hill, and Thompson's Station — plus surrounding Rutherford and Williamson County areas.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — Tennessee licensed and insured. Certificates of insurance are provided on request before any commercial project.
What's your warranty?
Standard 5-year warranty on every residential and commercial install. Covers peeling, chipping, hot tire pickup, and adhesion failure when maintained per our written care guide.
Can you repair a failing DIY epoxy floor?
Yes. We diamond-grind the failing coating off, repair any underlying slab damage, and apply our professional system fresh. Roughly 80% of restoration jobs price out similar to a fresh install.
Do basement floors require special prep?
Yes. We test for moisture vapor on every basement slab and use moisture-tolerant primers rated for high-vapor conditions. We also detail floor drains and address any cracks structurally.
How do you handle expansion joints?
Standard floor expansion joints are honored and re-cut in the finished coating to allow slab movement without cracking the epoxy. Control joints can be filled or left exposed depending on aesthetic preference.
Can I get a metallic finish in my garage?
Yes — metallic finishes work beautifully in garages and are increasingly popular for premium spaces. Cost runs $5–$12/sqft installed depending on pigment complexity.
What if there are cracks in my concrete?
Cracks larger than a hairline are routed out and structurally filled with epoxy patch material before coating. The finished surface is monolithic and seamless.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes. Every estimate is on-site, free, and provided in writing on the spot. No high-pressure sales, no follow-up nagging — just the information you need to make a decision.
How soon can I get an estimate?
Most estimates are scheduled within 2–3 business days. Same-day estimates are sometimes available — call (615) 555-0801 to check.
How fast can you schedule installation?
Off-season we typically schedule within the same week. Peak season (spring and fall) lead time is 2–4 weeks. We'll give you a firm date when you book.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, check, all major credit cards, and ACH transfer. Financing through Hearth and Synchrony is available for projects over $1,000.
